SUNDAY 16th February
6th Sunday in Ordinary Time Gospel: Matthew 5: 17-37 In today’s long gospel reading we continue the ‘Sermon on the Mount’. As we have seen, in this discourse Matthew gathers fundamental teachings of Jesus which constitute a charter for the ‘Kingdom’. Since Matthew’s gospel was written for a community of Jewish converts, it is not surprising that this charter includes teaching concerning the attitude of Jesus to the traditions of old Israel. Seven Holy Founders of the Servite Order
Seven wealthy, well-known cloth merchants lived in Florence. They decided to withdraw from the city and to lead lives of prayer and penance. They chose to turn their lived over to God and give witness to all that is good and true. This is a prayer that St Francis prayed when he was seeking God's will in his life: Most High, glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my heart, and give me right faith, certain hope, and perfect charity, wisdom and understanding, Lord, that I may carry out your holy and true will. Amen. Image: https://www.loyolapress.com/our-catholic-faith/saints/saints-stories-for-all-ages/seven-founders-of-the-order-of-servites |

Family Prayer to Mary
O Mary, loving Mother of Jesus, and our Mother, pray to Jesus for our family, for all the families of the world, to guard the cradle of the newborn, the schools of the young and their vocations. https://www.catholic.org/prayers/prayer.php?p=509 Image: Virgin Mary - susan-lu4esm https://pixabay.com/images/id-4329613/ |
