Third Sunday of Lent
Gospel: John 4:5-42 We listen fascinated to the story of the meeting by the well of Jesus and the Samaritan woman. Her history reminds us of our own frailties; her finding of faith and a new life encourages us. Thirst and hunger are such elemental experiences that they come immediately to mind, as we try to express the restless quest that shapes every human life. Anyone who drinks the water I shall give will never thirst. Teacher Background |

Feast of St Patrick
St Patrick's Breastplate is an ancient prayer for protection. The purpose of this prayer is to call for God’s help against all that could harm us. "Christ be within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ inquired, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend and stranger." Explore symbols of St Patrick. Talk about the shamrock and how Patrick used to explain the Trinity. Pray the Sign of the Cross, a traditional prayer practice that remembers and honours the Holy Trinity. Fun Facts for younger students. St Joseph
In Catholic traditions, Joseph is regarded as the patron saint of workers and is associated with various feast days. Pope Pius IX declared him to be both the patron and the protector of the Catholic Church, in addition to his patronages of the sick and of a happy death, due to the belief that he died in the presence of Jesus and Mary. In popular piety, Joseph is regarded as a model for fathers and has also become patron of various dioceses and places. Pray: Saint Joseph, patron of the universal Church, watch over the Church as carefully as you watched over Jesus, help protect it and guide it as you did with your adopted son.
