How to use the Ways To Pray Calendar1. Check the Term Calendar
...to review the liturgical and secular events for today. 2. Use the Prayer Library ...to create a prayer experience for your students using an idea for your learning phase Purpose of the calendarThis year you will find a simplified calendar that connects to a prayer library for each learning phase. The Religious Education Curriculum P-12, Explicit Teaching About Prayer Appendix A and the Religious Life of the School provide the starting point for developing prayer ideas recommended in this resource. The Calendar uses liturgical and secular dates to assist classroom teachers in supporting and leading prayer for students. Teachers are reminded that it is always important to preview resources and videos provided to ensure they are suitable for their students' particular learning phase.
The calendar is designed to be used by classroom or homeroom teachers in primary and secondary schools and colleges in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. The suggested experiences are closely linked to the Liturgical Year and are also reflective of secular events and celebrations. They draw on the richness of the tradition of Christian Prayer; provide ideas to enhance the celebration of rituals and liturgies and are a source of inspiration for teachers to provide a variety of prayer experiences. It is hoped that these ideas will be of great value in assisting teachers to nurture the prayer life of students. They are certainly neither prescriptive nor exhaustive and are there as a guide.
