SUNDAY 5 MAY
Third Sunday of Easter John 21:1-19 Today’s gospel reading from John tells us of the conversion that brought this difference in Peter, destined to become the fearless leader of the Twelve. According to this account, the disciples have already been in the presence of the Risen Lord more than once; but - still uncertain what is required of them. Most are slow to recognise Jesus on the shore of the lake; it is the disciple bonded to Jesus by a special love that is the first to do so. And even when they have joined him they hesitate to interrogate him. The whole account underlines the change of heart they still have to undergo. May is domestic violence awareness month
We pray:
Loving God, be with all men and women who are in doubt about their intimate relationships. Give them clarity of mind and peaceful hearts so that they can make good decisions guided by Your love. Let those who must, discern any abuse that may exist so that they can learn to care for themselves with Your help. Let those who must, acknowledge that they are harming the other, so they can learn to abhor their own behaviour and come to true repentance and amendment of life. Keep us all safe in our relationships. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Further resources |

The Prayer Cube
Pray with different forms of prayer and different prayer starters using the templates for Prayer Dice. Make a prayer cube or dice from the template. Edit existing prayers, add favourite prayers or create a new prayer cube e.g. Prayers of Praise or Thanksgiving. Prayer cubes aim to help children pray out aloud. Children take turns in rolling the cube. Whichever face it lands on, children are encouraged to pray according to what it says. The cubes are great for children who are unsure about what to pray, or who pray the same prayer every time. Image: Pixabay. Coloured Cubes Author CreativeMagic Pixabay License. Praying with Music for Mary in the Month of May
The month of May holds a special focus for Mary the mother of Jesus. Gather with some mindful breathing and listen to the song/video “Great Things” by Matt Maher. Matt’s inspiration for this song was Mary’s Song of Praise. Write a prayer of praise after listing and reflecting on the great things that God has done in you and for you. Prayer Starters for Reflection
Reflect on the generous spirit of people who demonstrate a spirit of giving in our classrooms and school, in our parish and local community, in our country and abroad. The Prayer Starter Brainstorm starters for prayers and make a set of coloured cards. Find a fun way to display them e.g. in a glass jar, a bright box/bowl Students choose one or are randomly allocated a Prayer Starter, and use this as a stimulus for vocal or written prayers to celebrate and reflect on the generous spirit of the volunteers in our community. Here are some ways to begin... Loving God, I feel … Creator God, sometimes I wonder…… Gentle God, help me to know ….. Generous God, thank you for.... God of Blessing, please bless..... Preparing for Mother's Day
Mother’s Day Prayer Ritual Mother’s Day Prayers Prayer Paper Chain Write words or phrases about your mother/grandmother/special woman in our lives on small strips of brightly coloured paper. Connect and fasten all strips to make a paper prayer chain as a gift for Mother’s day. Pray a prayer of thanks for the women who love and care for us. A Prayer for Mothers Where would we be without our mother’s love? Lord, bless our mothers with wisdom to teach and guide their children in a way that will help them to follow You and to become men and women who will be pleasing in Your sight. Give all mothers the patience to deal with the difficulties of their job and, most of all, give them a special blessing as they care so lovingly for the gifts that You have allowed them the honour of raising.
