SUNDAY 2 June
The Ascension of the Lord Luke 24:46-53 Hebrews 9: 24-28 In today’s liturgy we have two readings from Luke, the conclusion of his gospel, and the opening passage of the Acts of the Apostles. Comparing them can give us an insight into how Luke tells the story of the origins of our faith. In the concluding passage of the gospel, Jesus, on the evening of his resurrection day, ‘withdraws’ from the eleven and their fellow disciples, and ‘is carried up to heaven’. John’s gospel paints a similar picture – the Risen Lord, we recall, tells Mary Magdalene on the morning of his resurrection, ‘Do not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to my Father’. In fact, we do not find in any of the gospels – Luke’s included – the sequence in Acts with which we are so familiar: Resurrection; Ascension (after 40 days); Pentecost (after 50 days). This same Jesus will come back. Teacher Background Image: dimitrisvetsikas - Pixabay - Free for commercial use No attribution required |

The Feast of St Marcellin Champagnat
Find out about Marcellin's life in the link and view resources, including art works. Reflect on what these artworks say about the legacy of Marcellin Champagnat for Christians. The Marist Brothers have a beautiful prayer to start the day. Prayer O Lord, open our eyes to your presence, open our lips to you praise, open our lives to your healing, open our minds to your grace, open our hearts to your love, and be found among us.Amen. They also have many other prayers to begin and end the day. Today is also Queensland Day. Let us pray for our state as we thank God for the beautiful wonders it contains. Younger students may like to sing the Queensland Day Song. We pray, Loving God, for a blessing on our state. May we be blessed with peace and may we always work to nurture the beauty of our land and the gifts that you have give us. Amen. Image: Marcellin Champagnat - Saints & Angels - Catholic Online |

Prayer for The Holy Spirit
As we continue to get closer to the wonderful Solemnity of Pentecost, we continue to focus in on the Holy Spirit. Pray to the Holy Spirit Make me a faithful follower of Jesus, an obedient child of the Church and a help to my neighbor. Give me the grace to keep the commandments and to receive the sacraments worthily. Raise me to holiness in the state of life to which You have called me, and will lead me through to everlasting life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Image: schmidsi - Pixabay - Free for commercial use - No attribution required |
