Pentecost Sunday
Liturgical Colour: Red Acts 2:1-11 The reading from Acts sets the tone for today’s celebration. Luke tells how the Church’s universal mission was inaugurated, in the power of the Holy Spirit, as faithful Jews gathered for their Pentecost festival, fifty days after the Passover celebration. Luke was conscious of his task of telling the world what had really happened – as he makes clear in introducing each of his two works. He faced a great challenge, however, as he set out to describe and interpret the vast complexity of the Church’s early development. He met this difficulty by choosing several events that were turning points in the Church’s history, and presenting them in a dramatic way that made clear their profound significance – a device used by other writers of the day. The Holy Spirit will remind you of all I have said to you Teacher Background Image: "Pentecost 2" by Will Humes is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 2.0 |

Praying to Mary, Mother of the Church
You, who have known in the fullest way the power of the Holy Spirit, when it was granted to you to conceive in your virginal womb and to give birth to the Eternal Word, obtain for the Church that she may continue to give new birth through water and the Holy Spirit to the sons and daughters of the whole human family, without any distinction of language, race, or culture, giving them in this way the "power to become children of God" Image: DGJ Pixabay License - Free for commercial use - No attribution required |

Prayer to St Barnabas
O God, who decreed that Saint Barnabas, a man filled with faith and the Holy Spirit, should be set apart to convert the nations, grant that the Gospel of Christ, which he strenuously preached, may be faithfully proclaimed by word and by deed. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Pray to the Holy Spirit
In company with all who have been reconciled with the Father by the power of his Holy Spirit, let us join in prayer and praise saying: May your Spirit come to our aid. Lord Jesus, may we be guided today by God's Spirit, - and walk always as children of your Father. Through your Spirit, intercede for us with the Father, - that we may be made worthy to receive what you promise. Give us a generous heart, that we may not seek our selfish interests, - but be concerned for the good of others. Teach us to know God, - that we may advance in knowledge of you and the Father through the Holy Spirit. Image: Geralt - Pixabay License Free for commercial use No attribution required |

Thanks for Family and Friends
We give thanks for our family and friends. We thank them for loving and caring for us and providing us with all we have. Without them, we would be nobody. We are forever thankful for the blessings that they have given us. Pray for our Family and Friends Image Pixabay. Families - Pixabay License Free for commercial use. No attribution required |

Praying with Prayer Beads
Since the earliest of times, people have used pebbles or a string of knots or beads on a cord to keep track of prayers offered to God. Muslims use a set of 99 beads with each bead representing a name for God in the Islamic faith tradition. Other examples are the Hindu “Mala beads’” and the Buddhist prayer beads. Catholics pray with Rosary beads. Beads can also be used for Meditation as they can help people to focus and calm their minds and bodies. The beads can be moved in rhythm with the breath and a mantra or prayer can be prayed as each bead is touched e.g. prayers of intercession. Prayers of intercession Bead 1: Pray for family and friends Bead 2: Pray for teachers and religious leaders Bead 3: Pray for leaders of our country and world Bead 4: Pray for the poor and the forgotten Bead 5: Pray for myself In between each bead and each prayer, pause for a breath.
