EASTER TIME Domestic Violence Awareness |
Sunday

SUNDAY
Fourth Sunday of Easter 1 Peter 2: 20-25 The image of Jesus, as a shepherd, established itself early in the outlook of the first Christians. The letter of Peter, identifying Jesus with the Suffering Servant of the Isaian writings, calls him their ‘shepherd and guardian’. You have come back to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls Teacher Background Image: Jesus Shepherd - StephenMuir - https://pixabay.com/images/id-4454562/ |
May is domestic violence awareness month
We pray:
Loving God, be with all men and women who are in doubt about their intimate relationships. Give them clarity of mind and peaceful hearts so that they can make good decisions guided by Your love. Let those who must, discern any abuse that may exist so that they can learn to care for themselves with Your help. Let those who must, acknowledge that they are harming the other, so they can learn to abhor their own behaviour and come to true repentance and amendment of life. Keep us all safe in our relationships. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Further resources |

Prayer for domestic violence
Gracious God fill our hearts with compassion for those women and children who suffer violence and exploitation at the hands of the wicked. Guide us in vigilance so that we may recognize those who need our assistance. Direct our hearts that we might untie the burdens placed upon them and bring them to freedom and safety. We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes and in the name of your Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. AMEN. Praying for the Family
Think about our families and how grateful we are to be loved. Pray: It is through the examples of the Divine model of Nazareth that the Christian family is to be restored in Jesus Christ and to recover its former respect and dignity. Then every home will again become a sanctuary and in every household will be rekindled the flame of faith to teach patience in adversity and moderation in prosperity and to promote order, peace and harmony in all things. May is the month of Mary
For May, give Mary a special spot in your prayer corner. It can be a statue or picture, but place there some representation of our Blessed Mother. Make it appealing and a real tribute to her beauty and virtue. Then, crown Mary. You can give her an actual or spiritual crown and you can make it a subtle gesture or ornate ceremony of your own device. The meaning is far more important than the action. You can do it in the beginning, at the end of May or anywhere in between. Mary is Mother – your mother, my mother, everyone’s mother – and because she cares for all of us day-in-and-day-out without fail, interceding for us in even the tiniest matters. Prayer Starters
In these changing times, discuss starters for prayers and make a set of coloured cards. Each students reads their starter card as they pray for their class or their whole school. When everyone has had a turn, keep them so they can be accessed easily for prayer together at a later date. Loving God, I feel … Creator God, sometimes I wonder…… Gentle God, help me to know ….. Mothers' Day
Mary, on this day when we honour all mothers, we turn to you. We thank the Lord whom you serve for the great gift of motherhood. Never has it been known that anyone who sought your intercession was left unaided by grace. Dear Mother, thank you for your "Yes" to the invitation of the angel which brought heaven to earth and changed human history. You opened yourself to God's word and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Prepare a note for your mother, grandmother or the special person who cares for you to say thank you and I love you.
