Praying with the Gospel
In this gospel Jesus comforts and reassures his disciples with the words, ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God and believe also in me.’ He reminds them that he is the way, the truth and the life. Reflect on the messages for us in this Gospel and respond in Prayerful Sharing. Pray a simple prayer for our families e.g. Thank you God for our family. Help us to care for each other, to thank each other and to listen to each other. Help us to forgive each other and to look for the best in each other. Amen Pray in Colour for family members, those who are living and those who have died. |

At the end of breathing exercise invite students to continue their breathing and silence and in this time ask God to be with them as they continue their day. Suitable for transition times or at the end of the day. (Younger students) Use 10 Best Classical Music Tracks For Calm And Tranquility as a stimulus for prayer. God is Great!
Pray with the song How Great is our God by Chris Tomlin a contemporary Christian music artist. Reflect on the way Chris Tomlin expresses his awareness of the greatness of God. One of the traditional prayers that praises the greatness of God is the Glory Be. Let us stand and extend our hands in a prayer gesture and pray these words together. |

Gratitude Prayer Walk
Prayer walks can be “guided’ or of a more ‘free’ nature when students are given instructions but with more time to simply wander or BE! Invite students to stop during the walk and pray a prayer of thanksgiving in their hearts. Suggest that they begin with something that they noticed either while they were walking or standing still. Invite them to complete the following sentences: I noticed ….. and Thank you God for ….. e.g. I noticed the clouds when I stopped and they made me feel very calm. Thank you God for clouds and for our beautiful and awesome world. Continue this pattern for the time allocated for the Prayer Walk. When students return to class they could write a gratitude list or a prayer of thanksgiving. |
