Body and Blood of Christ
John 6:51-58 ‘Do this in memory of me’. Many of the great things of life are kept alive through the ‘remembering’ of cherished traditions Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life Teacher Background |

Eucharist Mystery
This gospel, in its emphatic rejection of the murmuring of those who do not accept the teaching of Jesus, certainly upholds the challenging truth of the Eucharist in what has been the Church’s faith since the beginning. The repeated reference to ‘eating and drinking’ clearly echoes the eucharistic practice of the apostolic Church. Dear Lord, I thank You for giving us life! We gather to have life and have it more abundantly in You as we partake in the Eucharist, Amen. John 6:53-57 Image: Eucharist - http://www.theemmausseries.com/abodyblood.html |

Praying for the Sacrament of Communion
First Eucharist is a special occasion - a further step in becoming one with Christ and united with the People of God. Let's pray for those receiving this sacrament for the first time. May your Eucharist presence keep them ever free from sin, fortified in faith, pervaded by love for God and neighbour throughout their life.
