Preparing the Sacred Space
Set up the prayer space to reflect the season of Ordinary Time which can be called the Season of Growth. The liturgical colour is green. Plan a variety of prayer experiences for the term. Consider prayers that will have a teaching focus this term and prayers that will be revisited and retaught. Plan times to stop for prayer and possible places (chapel, prayer room, church, garden, playground, at desks) for students to pray. Prayer of the Aboriginal People
Father of all, you gave us the Dreaming. You have spoken to us through our beliefs. You then made your love clear to us in the person of Jesus. We thank you for your care. You own us. You are our hope. Make us strong as we face the problems of change. We ask you to help the people of Australia to listen to us and respect our culture. Make the knowledge of you grow strong in all people, so that we can make a home for everyone in our land. Amen. NAIDOC Week is celebrated across Australia each year in July. This year it has been postponed until 8 - 15 November 2020 due to COVID-19. https://www.naidoc.org.au/news Image: Clker-Free-Vector-Images - Australian Aborigine - https://pixabay.com/images/id-28581/ |

Feast of 0ur Lady of Mt Carmel
Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the name given to Mary, the mother of Jesus, in her role as the special saint of the Carmelite Order. The Carmelites are religious sisters and priests who follow Christ in friendship and love. They have asked people to say this prayer asking Mary's help at this time of COVID-19. Mary, you are always with the brothers and sisters of your Son. We entrust ourselves to you in the midst of all that is happening to us. Help us to protect and look after each other. Be with those who mourn and those who are sick, those who have lost jobs and hope. Be with us in our fear and uncertainty. Don't let worry and anxiety overcome us. Be our source of hope. Lend your strength to all those helping others and those who are caring for the sick. Help us to end this disease. Amen. Image by Jo-B from Pixabay |

Friday Prayer
Read the following prayer, attributed to Saint Patrick (390-461 A.D.). Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort me and restore me. Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in quiet, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend or stranger. Reflection: What does the prayer say about living sustainably in terms of self, others and the natural world? Image: Rain - Thaliesin - https://pixabay.com/images/id-1563957/ |
