Be a Voice
Throughout the Old Testament, God called individuals to speak on God’s behalf; to carry God’s message to the people. Not all those God called were ready to accept the challenge. Some, like Jonah, tried to run from the task. Others, like Jeremiah, tried to convince God that they were inadequate. Moses is perhaps the best known spokesman for God, yet he too was reluctant to accept that he could speak on God’s behalf. Read the short biography about Martin Luther King on page 3 of the document at this link. Prayer: God of the voiceless, You hear the cries of those who need your love and merciful goodness. Move in us. Call us forward to be your voice for those who have none. We make our prayer through Jesus, your Word. Amen. Image: Voice - Free-photos - https://pixabay.com/images/id-1246057/ |

Praying with a mantra
Choose a word, such as Peace. Practice saying the word in a variety of ways; fast over and over again, super slow and dragging out each letter’s sound and syllable; say it in many character voices. Say the mantra over and over - Peace to you, Peace to me, Be with me God. Say the mantra silently for a few minutes. Image: by Myriam Zilles from Pixabay |

Feast of Mary Magdalene
Mary Magdalene became a close disciple of Jesus, providing practical support at times. Mary stood beneath the cross of Jesus and also encountered Jesus at his tomb and proclaimed to the disciples: “I have seen the Lord”. On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. John 20:1 (NABRE) Prayer: Loving God, your Son Jesus trusted Mary Magdalene, before all others, with announcing the great joy of the Resurrection. Through her example and prayers, may we also proclaim the living Christ. Amen Image: Free Bible Images (C) Lumo Project All rights reserved. Educational use only. |

Praying the labyrinth
A labyrinth is an ancient, symbolic form which dates to ancient Egypt. Many religions, including Christianity, have adopted them as an aid for prayer. There are labyrinths in some of the great cathedrals of Europe, including one dating from the 11th century at Chartres. Never rush a labyrinth. There is no hurry. They are meant to be walked slowly and meditatively. Let us pray… May we walk with you O God. Guide us; teach us; lead us. We know that you are with us and in us and for us. Your love for us is never ending. We make this prayer. Amen. Click here for more on praying the labyrinth. Photo by Peggy Roe. Used with permission. Feast of St James (apostle) 25 July
Saint James is remembered as an apostle who followed Jesus closely. The scallop shell is a symbol for St James as well as a symbol for a pilgrimage or a journey. Let us pray that we, like St James, will follow Jesus on our journey through life. Lord, On our pilgrimage, may we be an example of Your love, to those we meet. Amen. Image: Aussie Camino.
