Feast of St James (apostle) Saint James is remembered as an apostle who followed Jesus closely. The scallop shell is a symbol for St James as well as a symbol for a pilgrimage or a journey. Let us pray that we, like St James, will follow Jesus on our journey through life.

Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, parents of Blessed Virgin Mary
Saints Joachim and Ann – parents of Mary, the Mother of Jesus and grandparents of Jesus. They are the patron saints of grandparents. Involve students in writing and praying prayers of thanksgiving, intercession or blessing for grandparents and significant elders. |

Prayer Starters
Brainstorm starters for prayers and make a set of coloured cards. Find a fun way to display them e.g. in a glass jar, a bright box/bowl or assembled on a ring. Students choose one or are randomly allocated a Prayer Starter, and use this as a stimulus for vocal or written prayers. Loving God, I feel … Creator God, sometimes I wonder…… Gentle God, help me to know ….. |
