Homeless Persons' Week 
  • The theme for 2016 is “Step up: Everyone counts”
  • Use the image of the Sculpture “Homeless Jesus” by Timothy P Schmalz as a stimulus for praying for the homeless people in our communities and city. Listen to Timothy talking about his art work depicting Jesus as a homeless person. Pope Francis has blessed this sculpture. Street Swags and Orange Sky Laundry are two practical initiatives to help homeless person.

An Augustinian, who established the Order of preachers called the Dominicans, is remembered as a preacher, organiser and patron of learning.  He had a great devotion to Mary and  encouraged his followers and others to pray the Rosary. Pray a decade of the Rosary for peace in the world.

St John Vianney is remembered for his preaching and is honoured as a model for parish clergy.  He showed the love of Jesus to all people.  Pray for all priests that God will bless them with generous hearts and guide them in their living the spiritual and corporal works of Mercy[M1] .
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day
Listen for the key messages in an Aboriginal Dreamtime Story and journal a prayer response.
 Watch How to Teach Dot Painting to Kids  with students and invite them to create a work of art in a silent and prayerful experience.

Pray for the safety of all who will travel to the Games: for competitors and coaches, cleaners and caterers; for umpires and judges, city guides and security guards; for audiences and volunteers. Ask God to grant them safe travel and experiences that are enriching.
