The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
The one symbol most often identified with Jesus and his Church is the cross. We often forget that for people who lived at the time of Jesus, the cross was a symbol of death by torture. Because Jesus rose from death, the cross became for Christians the source of victory and life. It is a mixed up symbol of opposites - death and new life. Today we celebrate this mixed up symbol as we remember the story of Jesus. Prayer: Trace the Sign of the Cross over your body, in silence, believing that it is possible for pain to transform into something that brings Life ... Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows
Today we remember that Mary suffered greatly when her son Jesus died on the cross. We remember that she truly knows a mother's grief. Pray the Hail Mary together: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women; and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen. Image: Church - falco - https://pixabay.com/images/id-535155/ |

Holy Wisdom
"For within her is a spirit intelligent, holy, unique, diverse, clever, active, incisive, pure, clear, invulnerable, benevolent, sharp irresistible, kind, loving, steadfast, dependable, serene, powerful, astute, penetrating and most subtle; ... so pure she pervades and permeates all things. She is the breath of god, the reflection of God's glory." Wisdom 7:22 - 25 Sit with the icon a moment (allow 10 seconds) and then repeat the scripture reading together. Season of Creation:
1 September until 4 October Creator God, through your hand and through your Word, you have given us life and given life to all our world. You call us to be stewards and co-creators. Awaken within us a deep respect for where we walk. Help us to tread lightly on this land and to cherish the gifts endowed upon us. We make this prayer through the Holy Spirit, who has moved in this world for all time. Amen |
