MARK 12:38-44
In
today's Gospel Jesus praises a poor widow for being generous and he indicates how the poor teach the rich about what really matters in life. Read about the Catholic Social Teaching of Preferential Option for the Poor and think about an action you might take. Say a prayer for the poor in our world.

PRAYER
God of time and history;
of present and of future.
As we mark a century since the war it was said would end all wars
we turn to you for guidance and support.
Help us, in our human frailty, to be the people you would have us be.
May we respond to human need through loving service,
bursting through the walls of our institutions
to reach out with unconditional love.

Kindle your love within us
that we may be your light in the world
and channels of your peace.

ST JOSAPHAT

Picture
ST JOSAPHAT
Saint Josaphat tried to bring peace to the world.
Why not say a prayer of peace today-
O Lord, my God,
grant us your peace;
Give us that peace of being at rest,
that sabbath peace,
the peace which knows no end.
St. Augustine

Prayer
Let us pray today for all those who are in need. Try composing some intercessions for people who require special prayers today.
For example: That those in our local community who work to feed the poor and hungry will be supported generously. In your mercy-
All: Lord, hear our prayer.
Finish with this prayer-
Lord Jesus, may our hearts be filled with  compassion and love as we reach out to others in need. In your name we pray.
All: Amen.

The Lord is My Shepherd
The psalm for today's mass is Psalm 23. (The Lord is my Shepherd)
Go to the link and view this artwork by Jen Norton and reflect on what it says about the psalm.
Read the psalm silently.
What prayer would you like to say to God about this psalm?
Pray in the silence of your heart.

ST ALBERT THE GREAT

Picture
ST ALBERT THE GREAT
Saint Albert the Great was a Theologian and a Dominican. One of his students was St Thomas Aquinas. St Albert loved learning. Let us pray today for students, that they may come to love learning and use their gifts to the full.
Prayer

Loving God, thank you for giving me
a mind that can learn
and a heart that can love.
Let me be mindful of your presence
in all things and at all times.
Inspire me when work is difficult and
help me to move forward. Grant me the grace to learn each day so that I may fully
explore the world you have created.
Amen.
