34th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Luke 23: 35-43 Gospel Reflection The Church’s year is closing; and we look towards the glorious consummation of God’s plan for creation – when the Saviour will ‘hand over the kingdom to God the Father’ (1 Cor 15:24), having triumphed over all evil, and (as our second reading puts it) ‘made peace by the blood of his cross’. Teacher Background Remember me, when you come into your kingdom |

PEACE: Scripture Passage
Consider this: We often think of Peace in terms of human relationships, and that kind of Peace is certainly a blessing. Here, the Bible talks about Peace with God – a much greater blessing of infinite worth – which is only possible because of Jesus’ death on the cross. |

JOY: Scripture Passage
Consider this: As children of God, we have every reason to be joyful, but the heavy burdens of this life make it easy to forget that Joy. Listen to how Jesus himself encouraged his friends to expect Joy to follow after the most sorrowful time they would experience. Image: OpenClipart-Vectors - https://pixabay.com/images/id-2028337/ |

LOVE: Scripture Passage
Consider this: The opposite of Love is not hate. It is selfishness. Love requires giving, and the greatest love gives everything and takes nothing in return. That is the kind of love described in this passage. Image: Christmas - Skeeze - https://pixabay.com/images/id-1812692/ |

Christmas
Lord, in this holy season of prayer, song and laughter, we praise you for the great wonders you have sent us: for shining star and angel's song, for infant's cry in lowly manger. We praise you for the Word made flesh in a little Child. We behold his glory, and are bathed in its radiance. Be with us as we sing the ironies of Christmas, the incomprehensible comprehended, the poetry made hard fact, the helpless Babe who cracks the world asunder. We kneel before you shepherds, innkeepers, wisemen. Help us to rise bigger than we are. Amen. https://www.catholic.org/prayers/prayer.php?p=3228 Image: geralt - https://pixabay.com/images/id-934177/ |
